Pulling the Most From Thin Air

In this blog I would like to talk about how one can stay engaged with a class that you never have to leave your bedroom to take. Yeah, Joe Everyman would think that this is the greatest thing ever, you can go to school in your underwear and not have it be your worst nightmare realized. The downside of this cozy arrangement is that without a task master, overseer, or at the very least a ten minute drive you have to make to get there, there's not much to help a person feel more involved. These are a couple of ways that i thought of that the online scholar might try to get the most from their cyber college experience.

The first thing a person might try is to possible try to start an out of school relationship with some of your classmates. Exchange emails and chat in your own free time, organize study groups. A person could maybe attend lectures pertaining to the subject. One should try to get the most from their education no matter how they do it, because lets be honest, you're paying for it and the best way to do that is to do every assignment you receive and actually learn the material. This is how I think I can engage in a class i technically never have to attend.

  1. Scott, you offer some good advice in this post. I think you and your classmates should seek every opportunity to interact with each other, the subject, and the campus community.

  2. I really like how you suggest we interact outside of the classroom. I think establishing a face to face meeting gives more insight to their personality than any blog post could. Great advice all around.

  3. You're absolutely right about getting involved outside the computer. I know I personally like to be able to put a face with the people I'm interacting with. I also agree with Sydney. You can learn a lot about a person by just being in front of them, how they carry themselves, body language, ect. A way we can get involved beyond our computer screen is instead of using the online writing service, drop by the writing center at Kent if possible.
